MUSIC & LYRICS
It felt a bit awkward being the only single person watching a chick-flick in a theatre full of lovebirds filling almost every seat.
but no one noticed, anyway.. so why should I care?
sure enough.. I was giggling and chuckling.. by myself… awkward.
The movie ‘Music & Lyrics’ is actually a pretty funny movie for romantic comedy… this genre is usually not my cup of tea.. but there have been romantic comedies of the past that actually worked, such as ‘When Harry met Sally’ and ‘Serendipity’.
Hugh Grant is well.. hugh grant.. it seems like he always plays similar type of character in almost all his movies now.. I’m sure if he heard me said that, he’d consider it an insult.
I lost count on how many romantic comedy films that Drew Barry more has done all these years.. but hey.. if she keeps on banking money from being in this type of film all her life.. then why in the world should she care what anyone thinks, right?!
The story is actually funny and the punch lines hit the notes.
As a songwriter myself, I was impressed by Drew’s character’s speech about songwriting,
she said something like this, she said that music is like that feeling that arises when you first see a beautiful person, that first impression and attraction to the appearance at first sight.
Lyrics are like what you say when you’ve gotten to know the person really well.. when you tell others details of that significant person and how much that person really means to you… it’s where it gets personal.
but seriously, folks,.. go see this movie.. with someone.

Yay for chick flicks! I agree with you about Hugh Grant. He always plays the self-absorbed lady charmer. I’m pretty sure he’s like that in real life…he plays the part so naturally.
Yup. I never met the man, but I agree with you.
I don’t think he can play any other character than just Hugh Grant.
