Zemeckis’ BEOWULF

Director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future) is going to have a film called Beowulf, which is based on that poem or a tale they used to force us to read back in my high school Sophomore English class.
What’s exciting about this version is that, well…
it’s made by not only one of the greatest filmmakers of our time and it’s gonna have amazing visual effect, but it’s also going to include Angelina Jolie whose quest to safe Africa in real life has made her even hotter in my book.
I know Angelina looks too skinny for her own good and I think most Hollywood female stars are too skinny today, they should eat more…
but it’s Angelina Jolie, damnit! in the flesh on the big screen.
But if you check out the trailer, as looks a lot like the character she portrayed in that terrible movie ‘Alexander’ a few years ago.
Ray Winstone is Beowulf, and the great Anthony Hopkins and the charismatic John Malkovich will be in the cast as well.
The warrior Beowulf must fight and defeat the monster Grendel who is terrorizing towns, and later, Grendel’s mother, who begins killing out of revenge. The monster, Grendel, is not a creature of mythic powers, but one of flesh and blood - immense flesh and raging blood, driven by a vengeance from being wronged.

Not too long ago, evidently there was a Beowulf movie as well but the production was just okay. It stars King Leonidas himself as Beowulf, by that I mean Gerard Butler. The movie itself was called Beowulf & Grendel.
So what do you think? Judging from the trailers/previews alone, do you think Zemeckis’ Beowulf might be better than Gerard’s Beowulf or do you think that the remaking of this old tale will turn out to be a waste of time?
