NO RESERVATIONS Review

Sometimes, in one season, there would be two films in theaters that share similar themes. ‘Armageddon’ and Deep Impact’ which are about earth’s doomsday… ‘Remember the Titans’ and ‘The Replacements’, which are football movies that mean much more. This summer we have two movies that are… cookin’, no pun intended.
Comparing ‘Ratatouille’ and ‘No Reservations’ isn’t quite fair, since one is animated while the other is.. well, ya know.
At first I didn’t wanna watch this movie cause I’d like to see the film ‘Mostly Martha’ which is what this movie’s based on. But I didn’t have the time to rent it.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is why I stay with T-Mobile, despite the fact that it’s the worst cell phone service ever:)
No Reservations is about a feisty female chef (Catherine Zeta Jones) who can’t seem to trust anyone, but then is faced with the responsibility of taking care her niece, played well by Abigail Breslin. And then another chef comes along (Aaron Eckhart), injecting life into the whole routine, ordinary situation.
The performances by Catherine, Abigail, Aaron, even Patricia Clarkson are all excellent, but here are the points that keep me from being fascinated: The issues brought to matter in this film are nothing new so they don’t hit home that much. Even without having seen the original movie it’s based on, you get that sense of feeling that somehow you can predict every single scene that’s coming up next.
I do however love to eat good food, so watching food being made in various exquisite ways portrayed in this film is the only part I really like.
