BALLS OF FURY Review

Man, what is this garbage?. I was so disappointed. I expected to laugh a lot but all I got from this movie were cheap, stupid, unfunny jokes. This is one of those comedy films where the funny parts have been shown in the movie trailers while the actual film is filled with lameness. This is from the guys who brought us… Read more
LADRON QUE ROBA A LADRON Review

This is heist movie. The title in English means “A thief who steals from a thief will receive 100 years forgiveness”. It’s a latin proverb that justifies the storyline of what I think to be the Hispanic version of… Read more
Rama’s SCREEN exposed!

Yesterday, the good folks at YSN.com has been more than kind to allow me to become their movie blog writer if you will. The article that I sent to be posted was ‘How Important is Movie Violence?’. It looks pretty cool on their page, actually
By the way, YSN.com is a Your Success Network site. Rama’s SCREEN also received a compliment from moviesnobs for the same article.
I need to also recognize and thank my good friend Joe at the local Time Video store here in Riverside. He’s helped me get the word out by allowing me promote my business cards which soon will be mostly attached to the store’s newly released DVD rentals.
So here’s to YSN and Time Video,.. and in the word of Humphrey Bogart’s character in the classic film ‘Casablanca’:
“I think this is a beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
1 commentHow important is Movie Violence?
Johnny Depp’s got a new movie coming soon this fall. It’s called SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET. It’s a collaboration between him and director Tim Burton for the millionth time. It’s based on a 19th century legend of a murderous barber who killed everyone who’s ever done him wrong. Now here’s the word on the web, apparently the studio has seen early footages from the movie and thought that the violence was too graphic. They loved the movie but… Read more
2 commentsONE MISSED CALL and you’re…

Hollywood loves Japanese horror movies. Have we forgotten The Ring, The grudge, Jessica Alba’s upcoming movie The Eye and the other THE’s out there originally made in the land that gave birth to Karate. This time it’s ONE MISSED CALL based on the hit film in Asia named Chakushin Ari and don’t ask me to pronounce it. Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale) and Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan, Confidence) are… Read more
John Cusack’s GRACE IS GONE

If there’s one actor that I think deserve better recognition is John Cusack. The guy that made the lasting impression by holding up a big radio set in the movie ‘Say Anything’, may have finally found the movie that might get him the chance to win the win the golden statuette next year. GRACE IS GONE is a touching drama that won this past Sundance and will be released everywhere October 5th. It’s about a father (John Cusack) who… Read more

ILLEGAL TENDER Review

At first I didn’t want to waste my time watching this movie, but then I thought maybe I could watch something just for the fun of it, so I could have something to remember and laugh. But ILLEGAL TENDER turned out to be quite… Read more
Building Explosion from THE DARK KNIGHT
Today, THE DARK KNIGHT film crews and demolition experts blew up an old factory building as part of a scene for next year’s Batman film. The building was first made to look like Gotham General Hospital complete with red cross and pharmacy signs. This next installment in the Batman franchise is going all out with this one. I can’t wait for July 18th, 2008.

Red band R-rated Trailer of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
Just as Rama’s SCREEN has mentioned a while back, The Coen brothers who brought us great films like Fargo and The Big Lebowski now has come up with another thriller starring the versatile Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Woody Harrelson. This movie introduces the baddest bad guy in movies since last year’s Captain Vidal in ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’. Here we have the new Red band R-rated trailer. It’s called Red band because the trailer reveals more violence than the common movie trailers we see day in an day out. Make sure you have flash player to watch this clip

Hear the Scream of CLOVERFIELD
J.J. Abrams official monster flick website will now has some shock elements for you. Just go to www.1-18-08.com and wait for about six minutes and you’ll hear the giant monster’s scream.
As much as it is smart marketing to not reveal much, I think it’s a bit irritating that J.J. chooses not to shower his fans with more info about his movie instead of following Steven Spielberg who shares a bunch of stuff from his upcoming INDIANA JONES 4 movie.
J.J. Abrams only releases bits and pieces and even those are usually not all that exciting. Do you think keeping audiences in the dark like this is a good strategy that will give J.J. a win in the box office when the movie comes out in theaters?

Keanu Reeves with yet another Sci-Fi film!

Keanu Reeves was the perfect Neo no doubt. I couldn’t have imagined anybody else playing that character. But most of us know by now that Keanu is just not that good of an actor. Same tone of voice in all his movies, same facial expression, he’s not even trying to accept roles that will push his skills to see if he’s even got one. I guess that’s why he’s going to get stuck doing action/sci-fi movies or anything that has to do with special effects (Johnny Mnemonic, Constantine) because only then will he be able to… Read more
Crazy Michael Douglas is the KING OF CALIFORNIA

Michael Douglas, now that’s a dude/movie star who’s generous, at least that’s the word on the street, not to mention the old bastard’s married to one of the most beautiful women in the world, Catherine Zeta Jones. Michael’s best film has got to be the movie ‘Wall Street’ but this time he’s gone mental. In the upcoming movie KING OF CALIFORNIA, he’s a dad that just got out of a… Read more
RESURRECTING THE CHAMP Review

After watching movies like this one, it always makes me feel grateful and inspired to become a better person. RESURRECTING THE CHAMP is probably not going to win Best Picture but the story will win many hearts. It’s about forgiving the past, it’s about father and son, it’s about friendship. Based on a true story of an article written by J.R. Moehringer, this film goes to show… Read more
More twisted games in SAW IV

Ready or not, it’s about to be Halloween and despite of what you may feel about this disturbing celebration, it is that time of year again to welcome horror movies. I liked the first SAW movie although I thought it was a copycat of the movie SE7EN, and I didn’t care much for the second and the third SAW movies. SAW IV though looks like it won’t be a boring one. Here we have a clip of the first scene from the movie as it was previously shown at Comic-Con. And also… Read more
Mr. BEAN’S HOLIDAY Review

Is this an attempt by Rowan Atkinson to see if his once famous character Mr. Bean still has what it takes to make people laugh? Because it’s a very pathetic attempt. The jokes are meant only for kids to enjoy and for the parents that giggle and chukle a bit once in a while as long as they know their kids are laughing, while at the same time… Read more
Photos of Jackie Chan & Jet Li in THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM

Two of the world’s finest fighters join forces in the upcoming movie THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. I’m not sure who asked who, but whoever got Jackie Chan and Jet Li to do a movie together needs to be rewarded. It’d be interesting to see how this would work since Jackie Chan usually loves to inject sense of humor and comedy into his films whereas Jet Li, on the other hand, usually likes to do R-rated hardcore action movies with little or no punch lines. No matter how cool this movie’s going to be, the… Read more
WAR Review

This movie’s action choreography is pretty exciting, it reminds me of Jet Li’s previous film ‘Unleashed’ but way much bloodier. But there’s one thing that upsets me, the ending or conclusion part is terrible. I hate that sometimes good movies start so well and end so badly. It leaves you hanging, not in a way that it might have a sequel but in a way that leaves you saying… Read more
