BALLS OF FURY Review

balls of fury
Man, what is this garbage?. I was so disappointed. I expected to laugh a lot but all I got from this movie were cheap, stupid, unfunny jokes. This is one of those comedy films where the funny parts have been shown in the movie trailers while the actual film is filled with lameness. This is from the guys who brought us… Reno 911 (Deputy Junior a.k.a. Ben Garant and Lieutenant Dangle a.k.a Thomas Lennon).

Randy Daytona is a child ping-pong prodigy who grows up fat and insignificant until an FBI agent uses Randy’s ping-pong skills to take down an underground tournament held by a mysterious criminal (Christopher Walken).

Balls of fury has bumped around from different dates to different dates for a few times. Not clear as to the reason why.
But Rogue pictures was supposed to release this film in 2006. And then it’s said that it would be in April 2007, but then it got bumped to September and finally got moved up to August 31.

I’d say it’s a marketing strategy, cause it’s about ping-pong, and the movie release date has jumped from one side of the table to another like a ping-pong ball.

yes, Rush Hour 3 storyline sucked big time, but at least the jokes are funnier and the actions are way cooler than ‘Balls of Fury’, which is a poor excuse for comedy.
You’d grin but that’s about it. I wouldn’t even wanna watch this again on DVD even if they paid me. Actress Maggie Q (MI:3, Live Free or Die Hard) is probably the only remedy to this agony.

Maybe I shouldn’t have gone in with high expectations, but maybe after having seen actual funny movies like ‘Superbad’ and ‘Death at a Funeral’, something like ‘Balls of Fury’ suddenly becomes childish/immature.
