SHOOT ‘EM UP Review

Shoot 'em up
I had a feeling this was going to be an awesome, fast-paced action movie, but Damn!
They really took it to heart. Full of firepower surprises lurking around every corner ready to just… ‘Bang, bang, bang!’ before you can even say say ‘Wow!’. SHOOT ‘EM UP is exhilarating, adrenaline-rush, every gun-junkie’s dream. It celebrates violence and at the same time it reminds us of what it exactly can do to people.

During a deadly shootout, a pregnant woman gives birth to a baby that a group of gunmen try to kill. A stranger by the name of Mr. Smith (Clive Owen) took the baby into safety and persuades a lactating prostitute (Monica Bellucci) to help care for the baby. The leader hitman (Paul Giamatti) is gun-lover who will stop at nothing to follow orders. As Mr. Smith does all he can to protect the baby, he uncovers a conspiracy that leads to a hypocrite presidential candidate.

Clive Owen would’ve been a great James Bond. I remember Pierce Brosnan was vouching for Clive to take the role, but Bond film producers chose Daniel Craig instead. So I guess this movie is kind of like Clive’s way of getting back at them, as if he’s saying ‘Look what I can do!’

Clive Owen’s character is going to be a cult hit because not only is he a sharpshooter, he loves to eat carrot and usually audiences remember unique characters like that for years. O, and by the way… he’s also able to kill people those carrots.
I give the most props to the writer/director of this movie Michael Davis who successfully crafted scene by scene with R-rated humor and complicated sequences and stunt-work that are all just 100% pure entertainment.
It’s fun to watch in theaters and it’ll make a nice DVD collection.
