The next BOND girl might be Latina

A while back, many thought Abbie Cornish was gonna get the part, but she denied it. The next Bond film BOND 22 hasn’t gone into production yet. There are many reasons but one thing definitely is that they have yet to find their next Bond girl. We don’t know the name or… the face that goes with it because get this.. the producers of the film are looking into casting a Latina. YES! Muy caliente! Here’s what Filmjerk found out:
According to casting notices sent out this morning, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are looking for a Latina actress in her late twenties, preferably with South American roots. Despite their plea that prospective talent not be worried about fitting the traditional Bond Girl look, since this is the “new” Bond series, she must be quite beautiful, able to handle what promises to be a physically demanding role, fluent in English and, last but most certainly not least, a great actress.
A Latina that must be beautiful, great at acting, and that physically demanding role thing probably means that she’s gonna have to be ready to be tossed around a lot. Many Bond girls in the past have gone through not only fights and explosives but various kinds of threats.
Boy they sure aren’t kidding around this time. The script itself will take James Bond across Europe, UK, and South America.
So do you know any hot, feisty Latina that might have what it takes to be the next Bond girl? Or a hot, feisty Latina you can hook me up with?
So I’ve comprised a short list of Latina actresses in late twenties and early thirties that I think may or may not fit the profile.
5) Mia Maestro

Mia Maestro is an Argentinian famously known for her roles as Sydney Bristow’s sister in TV’s ‘Alias’. She was in the movie Motorcycle Diaries. Age 29, able to speak both Spanish and English, plus she can act, what more can you ask?
4). Rosalyn Sanchez

This Puerto Rican’s no stranger to us anymore, she is by far one of the hottest Latinas ever created. Only 34, but I’m not so sure about the acting side of her. She’s only been in movies that haven’t demanded much of her skills (Boat Trip, Basic, Rush Hour 2), so I don’t think she’s proven herself worthy just yet.
3). Eva Mendez

This native LA of Cuban-American heritage has been privileged enough to play alongside people who are associated with the term Oscars (Will Smith, Nicolas Cage, Denzel Washington, Joaquin Phoenix) and she’s not a bad actress, but I just can’t see her doing any stuntwork.
2). Paz Vega

We haven’t seen much of this Spain-born actress except from the movie Spanglish. I think she’s more for the looks and couldn’t carry femme fatale requirements. But who knows? These days.. nothing is what it seems. She doesn’t have South American roots but hey, it’s not acting if it’s real, right?!
Right now, she’s probably working as one of Tim Allen’s wives in the movie The Six Wives of Henry Lefay.
1). Catalina Sandino Moreno

And the one I think would be the perfect Latina for James Bond is this Oscar nominated Colombian. There’s no question about her acting skills and her English language could be improved in time. She can be seen in next year’s Che Guevara biopic.

Thanks for the comment, Rama!
Your site’s awesome! It’s always good to know what’s happening in the…I guess…movie studio world. I’m left in the dark, working on a couple of indie films to be shown at film festivals, definitely not at a theater near you.
…oh, and I second the vote for Mia Maestro.
Cheers,
Ryan
