CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR is Tom Hanks’ War
Tom Hanks is probably one of the most beloved actors of our generation. For some reason he’s made movies that has made men, women and children all over the world become fond of him without having to know him in person.
Even when he tried to play a bad guy (Road to Perdition) or when his movie sucked (Da Vinci Code), he still ends up being the good guy.
This time he teams up with the ever gorgeous Julia Roberts. You thought I was done, didn’t ya? Those are not the only award worthy stars that are going to be in CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR, Philip Seymour Hoffman who won Oscar for Capote and Amy Adams who was nominated for Junebug are also taking part in this film directed by, here we go again, Oscar winning director Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Closer). The screenplay was co-written by Aaron Sorkin who was probably high on mushroom while writing it.
Does a movie with heavyweight calibers such as this one guarantee Oscar buzz??
I don’t know about you but I think that sometimes having too many stars could backfire.
CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR is a drama about a Texas congressman who funneled money and weapons to Afghan people so they can fight the Soviets. It’s scheduled to open in theaters everywhere this Christmas and here is the trailer.
