P2 Review

Often enough, you’ll find a horror/thriller that makes you laugh instead of gettin’ you scared. P2 is that kind of movie. It has a cool concept, I mean, who would want to get trapped in… a parking structure in the middle of the freakin’ night with a psychopath that’s been stalking you all this time?!
Angela (Nichols), a successful businesswoman has plans to see her family for Christmas dinner but in parking garage P2, her car won’t start. Thomas (Bentley) the security guard, after failing to start her car, invites her to have Christmas dinner with him in his office. She laughs it off and the next thing she knows, Angela must fight her way out of parking garage P2 if she wants to see another Christmas.

It does have a few scenes that are cleverly executed such as the elevator water trap and gratuitous death of the guy tied to a chair. But P2 mostly contains traps and surprises that are so cheesy, even a kid could come up with a better alternate sequence. I hate it when watching this genre, you’d get to the part where it seems like it’s going to get thrilling but all of a sudden it falls short because it takes a breath between each suspenseful scene way too soon, way too often.
Rachel Nichols does show some talent as an actress, plus she looks awfully attractive as the damsel in distress running around in a wet dress. Wes Bentley is convincing as the creepy security guard. It is sorta sad to see a promising actor like Wes, formerly known as that dude holding the video camera in American Beauty, ends up in cheap thrills like P2.
