BORAT is Dead!

Sascha Bar0n Cohen told Britain’s Daily Telegraph Newspaper that he has abandoned his famous characters Borat and Ali G for good. He chooses to do alter-egos that have gotten him fame and fortune no longer on account them becoming too familiar to the public.

“When I was being Ali G and Borat, I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them. So admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing,”
“It is like saying goodbye to a loved one. It is hard, and the problem with success, although it’s fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I ‘get’ with Borat again, so it’s a kind of self-defeating form, really.”

Very Nice!
Now don’t get me wrong! I love the movie BORAT, which Sascha won a Golden Globe for… but in the midst of all the sequels in theaters that failed to see success, I think Sascha Cohen’s decision to move on to the next better things deserves an applaud.
Besides… if everyone’s already familiar with Borat, then the next time Borat’s out on the street trying to fool somebody, it won’t work and the prank won’t be funny and the whole thing will bomb!

So it’s always good to retire when you’re on top of the mountain.
Some stubborn people just don’t know when to stop, I’m not gonna name names (cough) Sly Stallone (cough)!!

This isn’t the last we’ll hear of Sascha Baren Cohen though… you can see him in the movie SWEENEY TODD playing the rival barber and he’s currently filming his next project in which he plays Bruno, original character created by Cohen, a gay Austrian fashion reporter who was featured on his TV show Ali G.
