IN THE NAME OF THE KING Review

I saw this movie a while ago but I had difficulties writing the review because I hate this action movie with a passion. I hate it so much I didn’t feel like spending time talking about it. I know that January is a terrible month for movies but holy crap! IN THE NAME OF THE KING is… a piece of trash, it’s a shame to every middle earth fantasy adventure film out there.

I should’ve known better. The director of this movie is Uwe Bowell, the same jerk that stains the world of cinema with terrible movies like Bloodrayne. I can’t believe Sir Ben Kingsley’s in that one.
Lesson learned, every actor out there who wants to make it big better stay away from any Uwe Bowell’s future project.
Uwe by the way recently announced that he’s done doing big budget film because none of them ever hit success. Duh!

It doesnt’ take a genius to know that you should never, I repeat… Never Ever watch this movie!!!
Just look at the poster, it’s hideous not to mention some of the names involved in the cast are B-list and those whose careers have been uncertain for quite some time like Matthew Lillard and Burt Reynolds. Burt playing the king, Hah! What a joke! Matthew Lillard (Without a Paddle) playing the King’s nephew, does the most terrible English accent.

Kristanna Loken who was attractive as the bad girl fighting Arnold in Terminator 3 keeps finding herself doing Uwe’s projects. And how the hell did actress Leelee Sobieski get nominated for Golden Globe at one point some years ago?? She’s a terrible actress, he expression is cold and without life whatsoever. I can’t believe she’s in that 88 Minutes movie with Al Pacino.
This is Ray Liotta’s second movie with Jason Statham since their collaboration with director Guy Ritchie for the movie Revolver.
All I can say is that… after watching IN THE NAME OF THE KING, he better beg Martin Scorsese for any movie, whatever, Goodfellas 2 or whatever as long as Marty can rescucitate Ray’s dying film career.

Not only the cast, visually the movie is also despicable. Cheap, low rate attempts to get us think that what we see is a brilliant treat when in fact, we’re smarter than that. We’ve seen better movies with grand visual spectacles and therefore this movie’s special effects fail the exam. The costumes and the weaponry dont’t look convincing at all.
There’s nothing special about the battles or any of the fighting sequences.

Good news is… you can save some money by NEVER watching this movie and NEVER renting it on DVD either.
