THE LOVE GURU Trailer
Paramount has released the movie trailer for Mike Myers’ new comedy movie THE LOVE GURU about a self-help expert from India who comes to America to find and fortune. First order of business is to settle the dispute between a star hockey player and his estranged wife who’s left him for his rival played by Justin Timberlake, who by the way is funny in his quick scene in this clip.
The movie opens June 20th, 2008
Also starring the talentless wonder Jessica Alba.
For some reason, Mike Myers in this role is just like Austin Powers but with long hair, beard and mustache.

I saw the trailer for The Love Guru yesterday. I am absolutely appalled by the blatant racism towards South Asians. Mike Myers portrayal of an Indian Guru is essentially like him putting on “brown-face” for the role. I thought we as a country were beyond this. This type of portrayal might have been ok for Americans in the 1960s, ala Mickey Rooney’s racist portrayal of the photographer in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” or Peter Sellers portrayals of Asian and Indian characters but how can a major studio and actors today believe this project is not going to create a backlash from the South Asian community. We as South Asians have put up with a lot of offensive portrayals of ourselves in the media, but this movie goes too far. Everyone who believes in slaying the demons of racism should boycott this movie.
