THE A-TEAM Arrives in 2009

The A-Team

My favorite TV series in the 1980s was not Knight Rider, not McGyver, not even Airwolf
It was THE A-TEAM.

A while ago it was announced that John Singleton (Boyz N the Hood) has been chosen to helm the movie version of the popular series about a group of special soldiers for hire.

Since then there’s been rumor that Ice Cube might be cast as B.A. Baracus, played in the original series by Mr. T

And then the word was that Woody Harrelson was going to be cast as “Howling Mad” Murdoch, played in the original series by Dwight Schulz.

Not bad rumors… I can see them as those characters but there are two problems.
Ice Cube needs to train so he can bulk up muscles instead of just fat which is what he has.
Woody Harrelson never watched The A-Team despite the fact that he was around in the 80s… So I don’t know if this thing can be offered to a man who doesn’t even know where to begin to appreciate the the character much less the series the movie’s going to be based on.

SO… so far no official cast has been announced yet. But according to Variety, Twentieth Century Fox has set a date for the release of the movie. It will be July 12th, 2009.

That means John Singleton better start working on getting some actors before they fill their own schedules with some other project to do.

The word is that the storyline to the movie version will be much raw and darker than the light comical feel of the original series. The script was written by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (3:10 To Yuma)

I don’t have a problem with that… just don’t screw it up! Cause hardcore A-Team fans like me would wanna see it done right.
