SHUTTER Review

SHUTTER is a movie that makes you wanna scream, Would somebody please, SHUTTER Up! Horror movies have gone down the drain. This whole trend of remaking Japanese flicks is getting old. It’s a torture to watch it not because it’s scary but because it’s so lame, you’d wonder how many more of this do we have to take. This movie only works for… those who get easily scared and for the rest of us who are familiar with other actual better horror movies, this turns out to be a laugh fest.
A newlywed couple lives in Japan where the husband works as a professional photographer. They start to discover that all the pictures they’ve taken have ghostly images on them. A colleague says it’s spirit photography where the spirit of the dead is captured by the camera and they’re trying to send a message.
Mr. T should have a commercial where he ends with a line that says “I pity Joshua Jackson”. Everyone should. I mean… this so-called actor hasn’t made anything entertaining since The Mighty Ducks.
Joshua Jackson’s acting makes his fellow Canadian actors like Jim Carrey and Michael J. Fox go..”We don’t know him, he’s not one of ours.” ![]()
Seriously though… his acting is so terrible, it should be captured in spirit photography, never to be released into the real world ever again.
The plot was ridiculous to the point where you’d wanna throw your popcorn onto the screen.
It’s too predictable! Even when the story tries to give clues and hints, they’re done smart and so you can figure ‘em out before it gives you the answers. You can tell who the bad guys are and what they’ve done to their victim way before the movie reveals them to you.
The ghost doesn’t look scary, it has one disgusting moment where for some reason her tongue has the ability to do a disgusting french kiss but other than that, I think they could’ve made her look so much scarier.
I hate how horror movies these days depend solely on surprise attacks that turn out to be nothing. Those scenes where you walking through a creepy room, wondering if someone’s watching you and you turn your head back very slowly and bam! The music adds the terror but what you encounter is just your friend putting his hand on your shoulder.
This movie’s got a lot of those stupid stuff and I’m sick and tired of it.
Supposedly, the ghost captured by the photo want to send a message. Well, the message they’re trying to send to us is… don’t watch this movie cause it’ll be a waste of time and money.
It does however star some good lookin’ Asian women.
I, as an Asian man, am pretty proud of that fact.
O where was I? Ah yes…
Overall, SHUTTER is only the kind of movie that guys should take their girlfriends to just so that their girlfriends could get scared and cuddle up.
