THE HAMMER Review

The Hammer
Give it up yo for Adam Carolla! One of the funniest sons of guns on earth has made one of the funniest comedy movies ever! THE HAMMER is a champ! You will cry from laughing so loud. It may be just another Rocky-type movie but I guarantee… you will be glad you’ve seen this movie. For a project that didn’t take millions to make, it sure gives other failed big budget comedy movies a couple of jabs and an uppercut.

Jerry Ferro just turned 40 and he’s hitting the mid-life crisis. He can’t seem to get anything right in his life, not his job, his relationship, even his love for boxing. Looking on the golden days of the past, he now gets an opportunity to fix his mistakes and go to the Olympics. Meanwhile, he will try his best to hold on to the new cool woman who makes him feel he’s not a loser.

The Hammer

I like the story, it’s simple yet heartfelt and powerful. When I say that I don’t mean it would win any awards or anything but simple folks like you and I can definitely relate to it.
And it’s got complexity to a certain extent. It’s about a guy who can’t seem to get a big break and when things are starting to go his way, something comes along to mess it up and crush his dreams again. He’s the Everyday Man.
We’ve been there, done that, at one point or another in our lifetime, right?
Well, either case, trust me on this when I say that the story is surprisingly… I repeat, surprisingly that good and so much more.

Adam Carolla is a talented actor. Who would’ve thought?! I used to like his TV’s The Man Show and he was the only funny DJ on the radio show Loveline. All this time seeing his best friend Jimmy Kimmel got his own show, I wondered, when is Adam Carolla’s going to get his own show too?
But now he has a movie that he can be proud of. Deservingly so.
He does excellent in portraying a guy who’s down on his luck and still hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
Let’s not forget, Adam came up with the idea for the story.

Don’t lose your attention on the hilarious Nicaraguan sidekick names Oswaldo. He WILL Crack you up!
You just never know what that guy’s going to pull next. Just his presence his alone will make you laugh til your side hurts :)

As far as production quality goes, this movie was well made. The flow of every scene compliments one another. There’s not one part that’s confusing. The fight choreography and the cinematography to capture each punch deserves a round of applause.
I think word of mouth will help this movie becomes popular by the minute. People who go and watch this will not come out disappointed.
If 2004 had Napoleon Dynamite, this year we have THE HAMMER.
Ladies and gentlemen, movie-goers everywhere, THE HAMMER is a Knockout!
