DECEPTION Review

Deception
DECEPTION should be best buddies with 88 Minutes. It’s one of the most pointless, not clever thrillers ever made. The twists try too hard and the ending seems to indicate that the writer just wants to be done with it already and too afraid to… leave it not resolved. It’s like watching cinemax at night, scenes of soft core porn mixed with murder mystery that seems to copy every other thriller who’s done this before and done it much better.

A shy accounting consultant, while passing from one job to another, meets a charismatic, womanizing lawyer who teaches him to loosen up a little. He shows them that successful women are the same kind too, that they also look for intimacy without intricacy. The accountant delves into an erotic world of underground sex clubs. But suddenly he breaks all the rules and falls for a woman. The consequences are more than he could handle.

Deception

I gotta give you heads up, there are many female nipples shown in this movie.
I was watching it in a theater one day, and a conservative couple who sat in there halfway through the movie, decided to walk out because they were appalled by what they were seeing.
Well, duh! It’s supposed to be rated R. What were they expecting? Hugh Jackman unleashes his claws and starts fighting mutants?!

DECEPTION is just like any other thriller about a shy man meets a confident man who teaches him to loosen up. Some moments would remind you of Fight Club but instead of imagining the whole thing, it’s about who can play the other guy.
What I really hate about this movie is how predictable it is and what I hate more is that the film thinks they can outplay us with its supposedly surprises when there’s nothing surprising about them at all.

The movie thinks that by adding suspense to the music, it would help with the moments that build up to something shocking. Well, all I can say is that it fails to help in that department because the race against time and the obstacles along the way are about as dull as the directing.
Actingwise, I think all three main actors are all right. They’re not extraordinary. In fact, I think this movie will end up in a shelf of DVD collection, forgotten by time.
