Aaron Eckhart Talks Harvey Dent a.k.a TWO-FACE
It’s been long known that the upcoming new Batman movie, THE DARK KNIGHT, though it features The Joker, it would mostly deal with how District Attorney Harvey Dent becomes the infamous Two-Face.
What changes him? Is he a bad politician? What motivates him? This new movie will be darker and more psychological than Batman Begins. Recently, actor Aaron Echard who plays Harvey Dent in the movie spoke to LA Times explaining his character without giving too much, but he did give a few hints.
This is what he said about this…
“I can tell you that, basically, when you look at Two-Face, you should get sick to your stomach. Being the guy under all that, well, that was a lot of fun for me. It’s like you would feel if you met someone whose face had pretty much been ripped off or burned off with acid. I can’t talk about it beyond that because I don’t want to give away too much of the plans by Chris.”
“The difference between Batman and Two-Face is how far they are willing to go and how they make their point,” Eckhart said. “Otherwise, we’re talking about vigilante crime-fighting. That’s what Batman is all about. He has a strong sense of justice. And Harvey Dent has an extremely strong sense of justice. His fiancée is killed. He’s horribly injured. But he is still true to himself. He’s a crime fighter, he’s not killing good people. He’s not a bad guy, not purely.”
So let me get this straight. The death of his fiancee motivated him to fight for justice but then he gets injured and according to Aaron Eckhart, his character who’s supposed to be the villain in the third movie is not completely bad after all because he still has some sense of duty.
So is he or is he not going to be the villain in the third Batman movie, cause now I’m just confused?!
In the comic books, Two-Face is just as evil as The Joker, Penguin, The Riddler and any other Batman’s enemies.
“You look at a good guy too long and it’s not that exciting, it’s the Boy Scout always doing the right thing,” Eckhart said. “I’m interested in good guys gone wrong. They’re not the bad guy, they’re the good guy doing bad things.”
Aaron has a point but bad guys who’ve gone worse are even more interesting. Just look at how menacing Heath has made The Joker. I would’ve had so much fun being the guy who’s got no conscience and aims to only wreak havoc, fear and destruction and nothing else but that.
“My guy identifies with everybody in the movie,” Eckhart said. “Really, all of it is more than an adventure tale, it’s somewhat of a mirror of our times. It deals with some fundamental questions of what’s going on in society. To me, this film is about how Batman feels about justice, how he takes care of the city, how he feels about the Joker when he meets him and sees what he is capable of doing. How he feels when Harvey Two-Face takes matters into his own hands. It’s not simple, and it gets ugly. I think people will be surprised.”
The word is that the scar is caused by the acid that The Joker throws into Harvey’s face. Many have tried to make their own rendering of what Aaron Eckhart’s face would look like when he becomes Two-Face. Some say Christopher Nolan might do the whole half-face thing with CGI so it would look even nastier, we even saw the new Two-Face toy that was posted HERE a while ago, well, this is what Aaron said about what he’ll look like…
“There are fans on the Internet who have done artist’s versions of what they think it will look like, and I can tell you this: They’re thinking small; Chris is going way farther than people think.”
That sounds WICKED!!!
