It was reported that Jonah Hill has been assigned to write the movie adaptation based on the popular 80s TV series 21 JUMP STREET.
He spoke to MTV recently and revealed that he actually has a part in mind for Johnny Depp who starred in the series.
This is what Jonah said…

“We have an awesome thing for [Johnny] Depp, if he’ll do it,” Hill enthused. “I don’t know if he will or not, [but] it’s going to be rad!”

I don’t think Jonah should be pessimistic just yet… who knows, man..
Johnny Depp has been known to be a really cool celebrity and not a jerkwad.. maybe he’ll want to take time off his Oscar worthy movies and work on this cool project for old time’s sake.

It was once rumored that Jonah Hill might be considered to star in TRANSFORMERS 2 as Shia LaBeouf’s comic relief sidekick. The whole thing never took off and Jonah explained why…

“I just think like I have to prove myself more in what I’m doing now, making comedies and stuff before I do the big action movie or something, you know? I’m not proven yet,” Hill confessed. “I’ve only been in one movie that people have seen that I’ve been the lead in so like, um, I could still suck in people’s minds, they don’t know yet!”

“It was very cool of them but I thought I should make some more comedies first, you know?” Hill said. “I love the Transformers movies and Transformers was one of my favorite shows from when I was a kid. I think it’s going to be an awesome movie. Unfortunately, I’m not in it.”

I just hope Jonah won’t cast his Judd Apatow gang friends for 21 JUMP STREET The Movie because if he’s going to do this right, he’ll have to make it action with some comedy,… not raunchy, often tasteless, vulgar comedy Jonah’s been doing with Judd Apatow and his friends.

Jonah did say that if it doesn’t turn out funny, he won’t make it. So he guarantees that it would be at the least… entertaining.

The series, which ran from 1987-1991 was about young cops who got signed to an elite squad that would infiltrate highs chool and fight crimes. To check out the series’ opening theme song, click HERE
