John Woo’s Next Movie is NOT Action Flick
The man who Jean Claude Van Damme once referred to as the Martin Scorsese of Asia, the man whose action scenes have been mimicked by great filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, the Asian represent, Mr. John Woo (Broken Arrow, Face Off, MI:2) is going to be doing a Romance project
This is just upsetting, I hate it when a filmmaker is so great at one genre and then tries to do another and ends up embarrassing himself.
The movie he’s going to direct is called 1949
Like we need another movie that has numbers for a title.
It’s a big budget romance that will start Filming will begin in December in China and Taiwan with a theatrical release scheduled for December 2009 and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Based on true events at the end of WWII and the final years of the Chinese Civil War, the $40 million Chinese language film will star Chang Chen and Korea’s Song Hye-kyo and Chang Chen. The screenplay was written by Lust, Caution and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon writer Wang Hui-ling
So I guess in 1949 people were craving for sex like never before while they were flying on bamboo trees.
Woo, Woo, Woo,.. just stick with action movies, man!
Where’s that THE KILLER the remake they’ve been talking about?
