Robert Downey Jr. to Play Hugh Heffner?
It doesn’t take a genius to know that Robert Downey Jr. will most likely return as Tony Stark in IRON MAN 2 which according announcement will be released in 2010,
But what will he do in between? Or what’s next for him before the shooting for the sequel begins?
According suntimes, he might be the one to play the Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in a biopic movie now already in development.
No confirmation yet on whether or not Robert Downey Jr. is 100 percent in this project but the legendary businessman Hefner seems to like Robert’s performance in IRON MAN so much so that Hefner has signed off on Downey to play him in the movie, with the working title PLAYBOY.
A representative for the actor said he’s interested in the Hefner project but is unlikely to commit to it until a script is done and a director is named.
The word a while ago had it that Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) might be the one to helm the film but that’s not the case anymore.
Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind), however, is among the film’s producers.
If everything goes well, Chicago is expected to be used for the shooting of scenes focusing on the early years of Playboy magazine. A Chicago native, Hefner grew up in Galewood and launched Playboy here before moving to California.
Speaking of which, if you’ve seen Iron Man, then you’d probably remember the scene where Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark goes to a party but before he enters the room, he taps the shoulder of who he think is Hugh Hefner but when the man turns around, it’s actually Stan Lee.
I think Robert Downey Jr. will be perfect to play the rich old perv.
Maybe Robert could just keep his Tony Stark character to play the role.
What baffles me is why more and more biopics these days are done over someone who’s still alive and breathing?
How conceited are you?
This is either Hugh Hefner’s ego trip or just another way of making more money before he dies which will probably happen in the near future.
But I gotta hand it to Hefner, a few years ago he was the man of the hour at the Roast hosted by Comedy Central where a bunch of foul mouth comedians made fun of him but he was such a sport
* In celebration of this info, here are some clips from the Roast of Hugh Hefner a few years ago
