Rama’s SCREEN

I don’t recommend this to younger audiences but if you’re old enough to enjoy some funny crude humor with some kick-ass moves, then by all means, you deserve the black belt of entertainment from THE FOOT FIST WAY. It’s a comedy that will bust your guts, it will annoy the hell out of you but… at the same time you will laugh out loud and connect with the heroes in this movie and fight the necessary fight. That said, be careful of who you choose to look up to.

Fred Simmons (Danny McBride) teaches Tae Kwon Do and is proud of it. His slutty wife just got a job but she’s been playing around with her co-workers too. Fred tries to do some payback by flirting with his new hot student but it doesn’t work. His wife lost her job and he takes her back. Fred and his student goes out on a road trip to see Fred’s hero Chuck the Truck and invites him to the testing. Chuck stays in Fred’s house, Fred comes home and finds Chuck and his wife banging. The fight is on.

I gotta hand it to the trio writers who also star in this movie, Jody Hill, Ben Best and Danny McBride. I’ve always wondered when someone would ever make a comedy movie using Tae Kwon Do. They’ve done it.
I used to take a few lessons when I was a kid, I hated every minute of it.
This movie’s not necessarily making fun of Tae Kwon Do, it’s making fun of people who misuse and misunderstand the concept of martial art, either for self-gain, money or fame.
But it also celebrates those who believe in the only thing they’re passionate about no matter what other mofos may say.
It’s also funny how funny how the movie shows the certain values that Tae Kwon Do upholds and how Fred Simmons is failing in every one of them.

The movie’s a bit short. I’m expecting more fight scene at the end. But I guess it ends with a demo-off instead.
It’s very vulgar comedy, the jokes, the lines, the attitudes, straight up for adults only.
There are parts where it’s just dumb, but for the most part, it gets me laughing so hard, I have to cough just to get back to my equilibrium state.
The main character is a beer-drinkin’, foul mouth, redneck dude who thinks too highly of himself but you just can’t help rooting for the guy.

You can tell it’s a low budget independent movie but the storyline’s not that bad.
The camera technique gives you the feel like it could be some sort of mockumentary even though it’s not.
There’s this little kid in the movie named Julio, there’s a scene where he’s in a party, mixing cocaine, acting like he knows what he’s doing. That cracks me up.

Liking this movie’s probably gonna turn me into a terrible individual, but hey, this movie’s not for everybody.
I believe that this’ll eventually be included in any DVD collection owned by any party lovin’ college frat out there.
This movie was made a couple of years ago and only now through the help Will Ferrell and Adam McKay that it can be seen by wider viewers.
