SEX AND THE CITY Review

I love this movie. But I am aware that this movie is just for the fans of the series. Those who’ve never seen the TV version will find this movie confusing and they won’t be able to relate to the story or the characters. Those of us who spent years watching Carrie and all her friends explore the Big Apple will find this movie… nostalgic, entertaining, and complete with satisfying conclusion that gives a sense of goodbye. The girls are back and the Sex has never been better.
A few years later, Charlotte is happily married, Miranda is happily married, Samantha is happily unmarried, and Carrie wants to be married… to Mr. Big. A bitter situation occurs that forces Miranda and her husband separated. Upset from the whole thing, she warns Mr. Big of the ugliness of marriage which causes him to have cold feet. One year will pass, one year that will test their faith in love.

The story picked up where it left off in the series. Writer/director Michael Patrick King, however, does not focus too much on Charlotte’s life which seems to be the least problematic of the four.
Every one of them still has her personality that has made them iconic but with a little twist here and there. And that is what I think gives the underlining reoccurring themes we keep seeing in the series and in this one as well.
At times, it gives the impression that marriage may not all that it’s hyped up to be, but at the same time, you learn that though marriage can be rocky, it can prevail.
I like the values that the story try to lay out to the audiences. Friendship, trust, forgiveness, the power of love.
I’m beginning to be less and less manly as I keep talking about this… but what the hell..
I think all the characters in this movie including the guys, they’re all afraid of something…
Charlotte’s afraid of something bad might happen to her pregnancy, Carrie’s afraid to get hurt by love again, Miranda’s afraid that she could never trust her husband anymore, Samantha’s afraid of losing her identity.
But as always, just like every episode, this movie ends with a happy note.. for all of them.
As I’ve said, this could be very nostalgic. You’ll remember the things that you grew to love about the show. The movie does a good job of paying tribute to the glamorous, fashion-statement life in the NYC.
Sex and the City would be nothing without the Sex… and this movie has a lot of it.
I thought Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson would be like one of those supporting actresses who’d steal the show… but her performance in this one is just ordinary.
Now do I think this movie’s necessary?
NO. Despite the fact that I think this movie’s awesome, I also think that it could’ve been just a made for TV movie.
It’s not necessary for them to put this on the big screen because frankly, I don’t see how it has any awesome cinematography or new features that make it worthy of a big screen treatment.
We could simply and easily enjoy this with the same excitement by watching it in the small magic box we call TV.
It should’ve been in the format a two part miniseries.

i absolutely loved this film…. i think for a woman especially you relate to sooo many things… and it becomes a roller coaster of emotions…. they hit sooo many points… so many themes… it was real… i really loved it… but i think even if you never watched the show… i think you can really appreciate it… maybe not as a dude… but a girl whose never seen the show can relate right away… i have a couple of girl friends who never saw the show and loved the movie… but you are right… you obviously have a greater love and appreciation as well as anticipation for the movie when you have followed the show…

Frankly, the part where Samantha realized that she’s not a sex freak anymore, I felt a little tear on the corner of my eye.
