Ice Cube wants badly to play B.A. BARACUS in THE A-TEAM Movie
The movie version THE A-TEAM is taking an endless road trip going round and round to confuse and hurt everybody’s head. There have been talks but no actual negotiations or deals are being made as far as casting goes. It’s like this project is being locked away in some room somewhere until somebody cares.
Director John Singleton (Boyz N The Hood) is the only one that’s clearly going to be involved. There were talks of Bruce Willis to play the leader Hannibal Smith, and then previous report has said that Singleton wants Woody Harrelson to play the Howlin’ Mad Murdoch.
But the biggest confusion would be on the B.A. Baracus camp, who’s going to play the muscle who’s scared of flying on airplane?
First it was said that the role might fall on Ice Cube’s lap, and then back in May, the word was that the character was going to be played by Tyrese (Transformers) but then a month after that, UFC Champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson said he wanted to play B.A.
And now, Ice Cube recently said to LA TIMES that he’s been talking with John Singleton about this role. He sounded so excited, like a kid in a candy store…
“Man, I am so ready to play ‘B.A.’ Baracus. I was a big, big Mr. T fan. I mean, c’mon, Clubber Lang [in “Rocky III”) was amazing. I even watched his Saturday morning show, but that was cheesy. I was like everybody else, I watched it for about six weeks and said, ‘Man this isn’t any good.’ But the ‘A-Team,’ I would love for this to happen.”
“It’s the thing we’ve been talking about lately, the thing on the other side of the strike or no-strike. I think it could be great. I always look at how they did ‘Mission: Impossible’ and even how they upgraded Batman from what it was not that long ago. The key is the story and the director.”
Once again, everybody wants to copy Christopher Nolan’s Batman Universe.
By the way, the word is that the story for this movie would be dark and gritty as opposed to comical like the TV series that it’s based on. Man, that show was awesome! Sometimes I wish we still lived in the 80s.. but we didn’t have internet back then, so I’d probably be depressed most of the time.
Ice Cube can’t wait to play B.A. Baracus and I think he’s the man for the job.
Let’s just hope he’s not already walkin’ around wearing mohawk and huge-ass bling bling gold chains just to look the part, because back in the early 90s, actress Sean Young wanted to play Catwoman so badly, she walked around in a Catwoman suit and went to director Tim Burton begging for the role,…. psycho!
Speaking of gold chains, Ice Cube had a pretty cool suggestion as to how that could be incorporated into the movie version…
“I don’t know about that,” Cube said, chuckling. “But, you know maybe at the end after they get all the money. I could walk out and look at the other guys and say, ‘What do you think, y’all like this look?’ We could play it for fun.”
