Will Smith THE PHARAOH got New Scribe
Pharaoh, Pharaoh, Let my people go!
The late great Yul Brynner is by far the coolest man to ever play the role of a pharaoh in the movie THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.
Can the biggest superstar today compete at the same level?
According to Variety, Will Smith who’s always wanted to play the ruler of all Egypt has gotten it one step closer to reality because he successfully persuaded screenwriter of the epic movie Braveheart, Randall Wallace to write THE LAST PHARAOH.
The script was previously written by Carl Franklin
It’s a based on a true historical events about an ancient Egyptian Paraoh named Taharqa and the fearsome battle between his people and the Assyrians led by Esarhaddon.
Taharqa was described as being counted among the greatest military tacticians of the ancient world.
So it’s obvious that hiring somebody like scribe Randall Wallace to pen the script is an awesome move by the former prince of Bel-Air.
Besides, the Oscar nominated writer is no stranger to war movies, other than Braveheart, he was also involved in movies like We Were Soldiers and Pearl Harbor.
There have been many movies that have the titles begin with the words “The Last…”
I remember back in 1987, Bernardo Bertolucci’s THE LAST EMPEROR won 9 Oscars including Best Picture.
Maybe Will Smith is trying to accomplish something similar… or maybe the movie’s just gonna focus on the war and the action.
At least, he’s not doing HANCOCK 2.
You know what I think Will Smith should star in one of these days?.. a movie about Jimi Hendrix. He’d be perfect for the role.
