SPACE CHIMPS Review

Poor thing, many people would quickly assume that this movie is not worth seeing when in fact, it ain’t all that bad. Yes the graphics aren’t the best out there, and yes the storyline could get too childish but believe it or not, some of the jokes are actually funny. It’s not like… Read more

Review:
I like this particular one. It’s a romantic comedy that most chicks would find it irritating because it rings true. Relationships are complicated, we all know that. Anyone says easy obviously came from another universe that’s not Milky Way. Actor Dan Hasher and Actress Katherine Hynchey excellently portray an exaggerated epitome of former lovers engaging in a century old traditional habit of… arguing.
By the way, the car is stranded on the side of the street. A street with cars passing by. You would think that they’d get out and try to find help. And where are their cellphones? Maybe the director wants to rule that variable out or maybe this is set in the 80s.
We will never know exactly why opposites attract or why fools fall in love. It’s a cosmic mystery, I suppose. I can speak from firsthand experience that there is something oddly amusing about arguing with someone you’re comfortable arguing with. I’m confusing you, I know.
Let me put it this way, the man in the short film is frustrated with not being able to come up with an original idea for his next script, the girl wants to help but he rebuffs it and she thinks he’s judging her. Typical ![]()
Always quickly to assume things… and us guys are guilty too for thinking we’d be inadequate if we receive inputs from girls. What are we, in junior high?!
For some weird reason we like to instigate arguments because to a certain extent, conflicts keep us sane.
There are hints as to what might motivate their conversation. It’s obvious why these two aren’t together anymore. I can only assume that she’s been trying to move on and see other people but she always finds herself back in his presence. Whereas for him, as inconsiderate as he is, he’s one of those guys who knows how to cheer a girl up (evident in that tape recorder act) but has difficulty being there for her emotionally. And yet, once again, they can’t live.. with or without each other.

Congratulations to Eddie Murphy, he has successfully made a follow up to his failed Norbit with this one. AUGUST Review

Many movies have taught us a lesson or two about business (read my article). This particular one is not my favorite. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it still has some sort of business elements to it but it’s mostly a drama centers around two brothers. AUGUST, just like the month itself is… Read more

MAMMA MIA! Review

Some things are better left alone. And this is one good proof of exactly that. I’ve never seen the musical stage play, my friends did and they said it was spectacular.. common choice of word, but if the movie was like the broadway version, then count me out of every stage play everywhere. I’m going to judge this based on the film quality which is… Read more

Bulletfilm Video: THE MYSTERIOUS MICHAEL A
I was watching cool short films on Bulletfilm.com, an awesome venue where you can post your own movie projects, you aspiring filmmakers! And then I came across this comedy with an interesting title, which got me curious and so I watched it and you know what… I’m glad I did.
THE MYSTERIOUS MICHAEL A
Directed by: NIGEL LESMOIR-GORDON
(Click on the image below to watch the short film)
The synopsis is brief and straightforward, the story centers around a visitor named Michael who takes a room in Margaret’s Bed and Breakfast. Michael works on a book day and night, but leaves secretly and without paying. Margaret is distraught until she finds that he has left her his manuscript, which turns out to be very valuable. Margaret’s life is transformed. Simple, right?
Once the word transformed is mentioned, most people can assume it’s for the better. I’m not saying the story isn’t predictable but it’s not done in a way that would let you down.
It’s a comedy and the success of it all depends on the interaction between the two main characters. Actress Joanna Bowen does well in playing the home owner, Margaret, who’s not keen on Michael’s unorthodox method of paying the rent, which starts with a down payment and pay full when leaving. You can see she would constantly come up with any new service and extra charge just to make sure he’s paying something at least, on daily basis. Actor Nicholas Jones as the mysterious man seems annoyed by her efforts but you can see that he’s determined to finish what he was set out to do from the beginning.
Who’s Michael A? Is he an angel? Is he a good Samaritan? Or is he just some rich dude who’s got mad skills in writing novels in just 28 days and is a glutton for helping others, a savior complex? No one knows what motivates him to go from one house to another and change the residents’ lives.
I like movies about angels. I particularly grew up watching Michael Landon’s TV series Highway to Heaven where in every episode, he got to help somebody and then hitchhiked his way to help the next person.
To a certain extent, even though I know that THE MYSTERIOUS MICHAEL A is a short comedy that’s meant to entertain, I kinda wish it would show a bit of a what Margareth goes through to deserve such gift. Maybe they could’ve shown just briefly what motivates Margareth to rent out a room or why she really needs the money to come in more often than just wait until the 28 days is over. I think the character Michael is good just the way it is because he needs to be kept mysterious.
For a short film, the production is surprisingly well, you can tell director Nigel Lesmoir-Gordon is not inexperienced. His directing is subtle yet it doesn’t go astray from its humor and the element of surprise. This is yet another proof that a very interesting story could compliment the simplicity surrounding it.
My grade for this short film: 4 out of 5
No commentsGONZO: THE LIFE AND WORK OF HUNTER S. THOMPSON Review

A documentary that takes us to a trippy place, and when I say trippy, I literally mean exactly that. It’s not the production or the talking heads, it’s the fact that it’s about a guy who once loved taking acids just as much as I love doing less harmful stuff. GONZO: THE LIFE AND WORK OF HUNTER S. THOMPSON is a good tribute to… Read more

SIXTY SIX Review

A comedy that’s not quite for younger audience but it’s fun enough for the family to enjoy. SIXTY SIX is heartwarming, witty, and it’s got powerful drama. It’s not too sentimental but it’s not insensitive either.
